IELTS Task 2: Cara Menulis Introduction

Sebagai bagian yang akan di baca pertama kali oleh examiner, bagian introduction dari sebuah essay tentu saja sangat penting. Akan tetapi, menurut saya jangan terlalu lama dalam menulis sebuah introduction. Tidak perlu panjang-panjang dan tidak perlu banyak basa-basi.

Kriteria sebuah introduction yang baik untuk IELTS task 2 menurut saya ialah sbb:

1. Mencakup semua topik
2. Menjawab semua pertanyaan (jika ada pertanyaan)
3. Tidak sama persis dengan soal (paraphrase)
4. Singkat

Mari kita lihat contoh di bawah ini di ambil dari buku Cambridge IELTS 9 (hal. 77).

Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities. Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and that other measures are required. 

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Berikut ini introduction yang akan saya tulis untuk menjawab soal di atas.

There are people who say that adding more sports centers is the best way to make the health of the public better. However, in opinion, this policy will have minimum effect, so other steps are needed.
